Decent affordable restaurants in the Orchard area are few and far between.

For a casual meal with family friends, Paradise Inn seems like a good choice.




The interior of the restaurant had this rustic Chinese teahouse feel and the atmosphere was suitable for some long-time catch-up chat. It wasn't too crowded, nor was it devoid of people. In fact, the buzz of conversation in the background was rather comfortable.

I thought that the restaurant's design concept was pretty cool. The way they presented their tea and dishes (in earth-coloured ware) also fits in perfectly with the idea of the "traditional Chinese inn". The staff were really enthusiastic in promoting their chef's recommendations and didn't rush us at all though we took such a long time in ordering our food. The serving was done really efficiently as well.



Decent tasting food, and definitely visually presentable (Not all were visually appealing though).

I liked the sweet and sour taste of the chilli sauce that accompanied the fried tofu.
The hotplate tofu was like those you'd find at a ZiChar stall.

The braised tofu was average but the gravy was a great accompaniment to the rice.
The tea-smoked duck was tender and the most impressionable out of all 4 dishes.



The wasabi-flavour for the prawns wasn't strong enough and the mayo was too creamy for my liking, so this dish (Chef's recommendation) fell short of my expectations.

The Chinese spinach was the same as that from Seafood Paradise, just minimally average. (hardly surprising, since they're all under the same Paradise Group of restaurants).

The venison was slightly tough and overcooked but at least the taste went into the meat. 'A' for effort there.

As for the salted egg yolk prawns, they were the best out of this 4 dishes.


Their fried rice is definitely a must-try (yes, it does taste like the famous fried rice you'll find at East Coast Lagoon Food Village).

The stir-fried tomatoes and eggs were a disappointment for it just tasted of ketchup.

The eggplant dish was above average, for a vegetable-based dish...

In the end, we were too full for the restaurant's famous double-boiled soup. I have tried their pork ribs soup and chicken feet soup before and needless to say, they were AWESOME. If I were to ever go back to Paradise Inn, it would be for their soup and nothing else.
