Miam Miam

Miam Miam. What a cute name for a cafe-restaurant.

Located at Westgate, it's a relatively new establishment in Singapore's fusion food scene, serving French cuisine made with Japanese ingredients.

When we arrived, there was no queue, and we were promptly ushered to a table.

Personally, I would have preferred dining in the tiny alcoves, but they were all filled then. :(

The interior was rather cozy, and the warm colour scheme immediately put me at ease. Perfect for a chat session with the girls over dinner!

Menu!

We ordered Miam Miam Spaghetti ($16.80) and Chicken Teriyaki Spaghetti ($16.80), and the portions were more than enough to share among the three of us. The dishes took around 20 minutes to arrive.

Miam Miam Spaghetti (right of image) is their recommended dish. The scattering of frankfurter slices, tomatoes, baby spinach, bacon makes a colourful combination.  I couldn't really taste the french butter, but the shoyu broth's flavour was a little too overwhelming that day. It was saltier than expected. Thankfully they had my favourite poached egg to top that dish and give it plus points.

I liked the Chicken Teriyaki Spaghetti better. The pan seared chicken was tender and flavourful, and when coupled with the Nippon sauce, seaweed and sesame seeds, the entire dish tasted amazingly rich. Absolutely loved the fragrance of the sesame seeds.

Their spaghetti felt a little hard that day, just short of a few minutes from the al dente chewiness.

Miam Miam didn't exactly leave a great impression on us that day. I suppose there is some truth in other online reviews that mentioned Miam Miam's mains being lacklustre as compared to their desserts.
